Her foot slipped and she started to fall. Zoe let out a little shriek. Thank goodness Alison was smart enough to use her "special" knot. As Zoe got back on the rock, she turned her head and saw the beautiful Logan Canyon in Utah. It was Zoe's favorite kind of day. Warm with the slightest breeze. Not too hot or too cold for climbing. Zoe liked to climb without being parched for water or begging for rain. Zoe thought that there was no better feeling than learning to control your fear.
Out of the three girls, Zoe, Alison, and Jennifer, Zoe was definitely the bravest. She was the one who convinced them to go with her on this wonderful limestone climbing adventure. After all, it was her turn to do something she liked. Alison and Jennifer were her best friends but they were definitely not dare devils like Zoe. Jennifer's idea of fun was going on a shopping spree, while Alison's was joining a book club (They don't know how she convinced them to do that). As Zoe started to climb higher, she heard Jennifer cheering her on below. Alison was muttering something about a new kind of knot to teach herself. Alison was all about learning. Zoe guessed that's good, because the only reason she could ever convince her to come rock climbing is reminding her that she can practice or learn new knots. Zoe was getting closer to the top now. After falling, some people would be afraid to climb any higher but not for Zoe. Whenever Zoe fell it was a new push of determination trying to get her to do better than before. Zoe was only a few yards from the top but this was where her choice comes in. She can either take the the hard way, a way she likes to call "the nose," or she can keep going straight up. To Zoe this choice was easy. Her motto was to push yourself and keep yourself out of your comfort zone. Naturally, she chose "the nose." To get over the big lump hanging over her she had to go a few feet with her back to the ground. Once she reached the tip of "the nose," she had to move one of her legs to the side of "the nose," and reach one hand straight up. Then she had to push up on her leg. She moved her other hand next to her first hand and put her other leg below her hands. She climbed diagonally for a yard or so then climbed straight to the top. As she stood up on the top rock, her pride took over and she smiled so wide her cheeks hurt. She savored this moment for as long as possible before she had to start helping Jennifer get up. After a few more moments she got down on her knees and threw a rope down to Jennifer.
As Alison hooked Jennifer up, Zoe saw her start to tremble. Zoe yelled down, “be brave!” It only helped Jennifer calm down a little. Jennifer slowly placed her foot on the first rock and pushed up to the next rock. Jennifer finally made it to the top an hour later. It was finally time for Alison. She was easily the most nervous out of all of them. She almost didn't go. Eventually, they convinced her just to try it. She struggled to the top but ended up making it. However, she couldn't pull herself up. Zoe reached over the side of the mountain without any harness on and helped her up. She pulled up Alison but lost her balance and fell off the mountain.
As she fell, she heard Alison and Jennifer scream. Zoe couldn't scream though because she was too afraid. She was actually more angry than afraid. She was hoping she would die in dome heroic way, not by losing her balance and falling off the side of a mountain. As her anger bubbled up she felt herself lifting up. She wondered what was happening to her. The she felt searing pain in her shoulders. She reached back to rub them but she didn't feel her shoulders. She felt wings. That's when she lost it. " I can not have wings," Zoe thought. "It isn't possible." She thought that she was surely already dead. After she thought about it, she realized dying wasn't so bad. However, she was shaken back into reality when she flipped upside down. She suddenly realized that she wasn't dead. Yet. She immediately surged upward, screaming with sheer terror. Once the g-force hit her, she passed out. Once she woke, she found her on a red sandy surface. Confused as to where she was, she stood up. She suddenly remembered all that had happened to her and realized that she was no longer on Earth. She looked around her, taking in her surroundings. She recognized the surroundings and traced her memories of them back to science class. In science they had been studying the planets. She had no doubt in her mind that she was on the planet Mars. As the realization hit her, she could feel hot tears streaming down her face. She would never see her family again. Or her friends. She wondered what they were doing. Were they thinking of her? She tried to focus and find a way to get back to Earth but she was abruptly stopped by the sound of stampeding animals. Her instincts told her to run but she no longer trusted her instincts. Plus, she was curious. She slowly walked forward and what she saw was beyond reality. In front of her was a pack of stampeding, pink lamas. She was too stunned to run away, so she stayed put instead. That was the biggest mistake of her life. The pink lamas apparently had no thought of stopping in front of her and she was trampled. She was sure she had broken about every bone in her body by the time they were gone. She couldn't move. She knew this was how her last minutes would be spent. So in a very un-Zoe like fashion, she gave up. She died right there on Mars. So much for a boring way to die. No one had ever died in that way. She was sure of that much.
In her afterlife she made her way back to Earth. She was able to see what all her family and friends were up to. She even attended her own funeral. A few years later, she got married to a dead man named Luke. Her name was now Zoe Castellan. She just loved the way that name sounded. Her and Luke moved to the heaven for book characters. Obviously, with Zoe in charge, they moved to Dauntless Headquarters from Divergent. There, she became best friends with Tris Prior. Apparently Tris was getting over some emotional relationship trauma. Zoe always seemed to find her muttering the "Tobias" over and over again. Zoe was very happy with her new life and was excited to find that Luke had made good friends with a man named Uriah and was reunited with an old friends Selena and Charles. Together, Zoe and her friends lived, or should I say "died", happily ever after.
